De Volksfeesten van 2024 zijn gisteren afgetrapt met het vogelschieten, traditioneel het eerste onderdeel van het Zomerfeest in Hoenderloo. Prachtige weersomstandigheden, veel mensen en de sfeer was geweldig. Met als apotheose twee super mooie schutterskoningen.
Maar liefst 130 mannen en vrouwen deden een gooi naar dé ere-titel van Hoenderloo en na praktisch ieder schot werd de houten vogel een klein stukje kleiner. Af en toe viel er een best blok af en al redelijk snel kon ieder schot het genadeschot zijn.Uiteindelijk gaf de vogel het op in de derde ronde bij het 292-ste schot en good old Dick Modderkolk was daar verantwoordelijk voor. Groot gejuich, want dit is ook weer een schitterende koning. Martine was er ook ontzettend blij mee en we zien haar graag straks tijdens de optocht schitteren in de mooie oude schutterskoningbolide. Daar neemt Ronan Plant voor het derde achtereenvolgende jaar ook weer in plaats, aangezien hij weer de schutterskoning bij de jeugd werd.
In de tent werden ze gehuldigd en flink toegejuichd.
