Het volksfeest is losgebarsten in Hoenderloo en menigeen is al gezien op de kermis. Om 19.00 uur begon het vogelschieten en in recordtijd lag de houten vogel al op de grond; 20.30 uur.
Aangezien er maar liefst 134 deelnemers waren aan het vogelschieten dit jaar hebben sommigen maar 1 keer kunnen schieten. Na een groot blok van de familie Van Ark begon de vogel steeds meer te wankelen. Maar de ervaring leert dat het ook zo maar nog heel lang kan duren. Dit jaar niet dus, want als één van de laatste van de Van Arkjes pakte de jonge telg Maaike van Ark het geweer, legde aan en gaf de vogel het genadeschot. In het 227e schot al! Ongekend. Een groot gejuich ging over het kermisterrein en wat werd het haar gegund. In de historie van het Hoenderlose vogelschieten is ze de derde vrouw die deze grote eer te beurt valt.
Bij de jeugd was de vogel er op dat moment al af en degene die verantwoordelijk was voor de complete ontmanteling van de jeugdvogel was de jeugdschutterskoning van vorig jaar, Ronan Plant. Hij was echter met zijn vrienden lekker op de kermis aan het genieten en dus even geen foto van hem. Die komt zeker nog wel.
